Baldur’s Gate 3 Player Creates Ultra Tall Karlach With Buffs

The internet’s fascination with tall women might’ve peaked with Resident Evil Village‘s Lady Dimitrescu but it clearly didn’t stop there. This time, a Baldur’s Gate 3 player has found a way to make the RPG’s favourite tall barbarian Karlach into an even taller “Mega-Karlach” using a variety of stacked buffs and spells in the game.

Reddit user lesser-panjandrum recently posted their findings on what happens when you stack D&D buffs and spells in Baldur’s Gate 3 that enlarges the size of certain characters. Naturally, Karlach was the prime test subject for this experiment. As the user explains, you can stack multiple size-changing buffs to get the biggest outcomes (no pun intended).

The ultra tall Karlach (lovingly nicknamed “Mega-Karlach” by the community) achieves these heights with a combination of the usual Enlarged spell, an Elixir of the Colossus which also increases a character’s size and a quarterstaff which comes with a slight size buff too. The results are, well, have a look for yourself below:

Some interesting things to point out: Karlach’s size increase also greatly expands her stats too. In her Mega form, her carry capacity increases to 440kg and her weight comes in at a whopping 5 tons. Her damage output naturally stacks too, considering she could probably pick up most enemies with one hand and throw them into into Avernus.

Whether this was Larian Studios’ intended outcome for the size-changing stacks is not known, though with so much experimentation encouraged in the game, it’s hard not to be impressed by the lengths players will go to find “optimal” strategies. A gargantuan Karlach seems like a good experiment to run with.

In other news, Larian Studios has been gauging whether or not to release a physical edition of Baldur’s Gate 3, as the only way to currently play the game is via digital download on both PC and PS5.
