Larian has whipped up a pretty exciting new update for Baldur’s Gate 3 fans that adds new content to the game and provides some hotfixes and two new game modes. The update is impressive considering its scale. Even if you have completed the massive RPG, there’s enough content here to draw players back in thanks to the new Epilogues feature.
In short, the new Epilogues will let players catch up with companions six months after the events of the game’s ending. The companions you still have around will be at the camp and players can explore the area and chat with party members about their experience leading up to the end of the game.
Larian says that some players might not have access to the Epilogues depending on their progression and decisions. Evil players, for example, won’t get the invite to the so-called “camp reunion” and players who killed off their companions won’t have any members around to chat with. However, should you have access to the feature, Withers will invite you to the get-together.
The new update also brings with it two new game modes. The first is called Honour Mode where players are restricted to one save per file. Bosses are tougher, have new moves and the general game difficulty is much harder.
The second mode is called Custom Mode. Here, players can tweak almost every aspect of the game including enemy aggression, proficiency bonus rates, disable first strikes and much more. This is a true tabletop mode that players can customize to their experience.
The update also adds some dye options to Orin’s armour, a new inventory management system and various performance fixes. Larian says the patch is now available for PS5 and PC players with the Mac version on its way soon. The Xbox version, which is still expected to launch sometime this month, will likely ship with the patch available at release.
