Larian Studios says an upcoming hotfix for the console version of Baldur’s Gate 3 might break saves that have over 100 mods installed. Players have been on a modding spree since patch 7 introduced official mod support into the game on all platforms, giving players the chance to tweak and reshape the award-winning RPG to their liking. However, it’s easy to rack up dozens of mods at a time and a future update might spell bad news for many players.
Posting on Twitter/X, Larian Studios confirmed that it plans to release a hotfix on consoles “in the near future” that will address and prevent “instability, reduced performance and crashes when playing with more than 100 mods on console.” Larian recommends “only installing the mods you know you’ll continue playing with, to maximise stability.” The hotfix itself “will temporarily render saves with more than 100 mods unplayable while we prepare to ship a follow-up fix that will give you access to your saves after uninstalling some existing mods.”
Basically, Larian Studios is urging players to clean up their mod lists in Baldur’s Gate 3 in order to prevent serious instability issues. After all, when you install a mod, you’re installing it at your own risk. Some mods tend to conflict with each other too, leading to potentially disastrous crashes or bugs during gameplay.

The good news is that players with over 100 mods installed will probably have their save data rendered unplayable for a while following the hotfix until Larian releases another fix to make it functional again.
