Baldur’s Gate 3 – How to Install Mods on PS5

Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally out on Mac and consoles this week, giving players a variety of mods to install thanks to the official mod support that developer Larian Studios added to the game. If you’re new to modding and want a quick breakdown of how things work, here’s how to successfully install Baldur’s Gate 3 mods on PS5.

Firstly, you’ll need to download patch 7. You’ll need 7.4GB of space to install the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 patch, which will give you access to the mods (as well as a bunch of new evil endings but more on that later).

After installing patch 7, launch Baldur’s Gate 3. You’ll notice a new tab on the main menu called “Mod Manager”, which is your gateway to all the mods that Larian Studios has provided so far on PS5. When you boot up Mod Manager, you’ll be greeted by a splash page of dozens of mods. Essentially, these mods offer a variety of features created by the community such as new hairstyles and customisation options, fancy dice skins and even a few cheat mods like Double XP that earns you double the experience points for every encounter in the game.

When you click on a specific mod that catches your eye, you’ll open up a page where you can see more details about the mod, images, install size and the modder behind the creation. From here, it’s as simple as clicking “Download” to add the mod to your library, which can be accessed at the top of the screen under your “Installed” mods. You can also remove or update mods in this section too.

You’ll notice that the list of mods on PS5 aren’t as extensive as the ones on PC. Larian explained that mods go through an approval process (in this case, through Sony and Microsoft) before they can be uploaded. Additionally, modders might also need a bit of time to properly optimise mods for consoles before they can be ported over. Fans suspect that Larian could curate new batches of mods every week to add to the selection.
