Baldur’s Gate 3 Massive Patch 8 Out Tomorrow With 12 New Subclasses

Larian Studios has announced that the massive patch 8 update for Baldur’s Gate 3 will officially launch tomorrow on consoles and PC. Patch 8 will add a wealth of new content to the game including 12 new subclasses, a photo mode, split-screen co-op for Xbox Series S players and crossplay along with a number of bug fixes and technical improvements.

Larian Studios began releasing new videos exploring each of the 12 new subclasses coming to Baldur’s Gate 3, which will add one new subclass per major class. The developer will also host a more in-depth livestream on 16 April to go over all of the new subclasses and their various abilities and skills.

Additionally, Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally receive the long-requested photo mode along with crossplay support so players across all platforms can play the game together, irrespective of which console they’re on. The Xbox Series S version of the game, which launched without some key features, will finally get split-screen co-op too. The 12 new subclasses being added include:

  • College of Glamour Bard
  • Path of Giants Barbarian
  • Death Domain Cleric
  • Circle of The Stars Druid
  • Oath of the Crown Paladin
  • Arcane Archer Fighter
  • Drunken Master Monk
  • Swarmkeeper Ranger
  • Swashbuckler Rogue
  • Shadow Magic Sorcerer
  • Hexblade Warlock
  • Bladesinging Wizard

Patch 7 also introduced a substantial amount of content to Baldur’s Gate 3 including official mod support on consoles, an official mod toolkit, several new evil endings and UI updates, among others.

In related news, patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 was accidentally released early in January, allowing some players to try out the new subclasses ahead of its official arrival. Larian Studios quickly released an update to rectify this mistake, adding that the subclasses were still in the testing phase meaning they weren’t representative of what players will get in the final release.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
