Developer Larian Studios has announced that patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 will arrive sometime in early 2025 and it’s another massive update for a game that keeps on giving. The studio confirmed that the next patch will finally add some long-requested features like crossplay and a photo mode. More importantly, it will also add 12 new subclasses to the game.
Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t have a concrete release date yet but fans can expect it to arrive in early 2025, which is quite vague. However, the update is a substantial one as it will add crossplay to the game, finally allowing players on different consoles to play co-op together. Photo mode will also be added – another highly requested feature by fans.
The biggest addition in the update is the arrival of 12 entirely new subclasses, complete with new animations, abilities, VFX, summons and cantrips. Larian Studios broke down each new upcoming subclass:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging
In most cases with AAA games, this is the kind of content that would be added as paid DLC but Larian Studios is simply including it as part of a free update, which is insane and yet another sign that the studio is fully committed to improving the game and rewarding players.
