Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has teased its ‘next big game’ while celebrating its numerous nominations at The Game Awards this year. The studio’s latest RPG is still making waves in the community and awards season but Larian has its sights set on the future, implying that it has already begun working on its next big project.
Larian founder and CEO Swen Vincke recently took to Twitter/X to celebrate the eight nominations that Baldur’s Gate 3 received at The Game Awards but in the process, teased Larian’s ‘next big game’ without really elaborating on anything. Naturally, all the attention should be on Baldur’s Gate 3 right now so we’ll likely get an official announcement of this mystery project in a few years.

Over on Twitter/X, Vincke stated:
“This is a real honor, especially in a year with so many releases. Seeing our little ‘niche rpg’ make such waves is very motivating. I wish I could tell you about our next big game but this is really encouraging us to ensure it pushes many boundaries. I’m very excited about it.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 is up for nominations in the following categories:
- Game of the Year
- Best Game Direction
- Best Narrative
- Best Score And Music
- Best Performance (Neil Newbon as Astarion)
- Best Community Support
- Best RPG
- Best Multiplayer
As for what this ‘next big game’ is, it’s anyone’s guess. Larian Studios could ride on the success of Baldur’s Gate by making a fourth entry or perhaps return to one of its other acclaimed IPs such as Divinity: Original Sin or Pillars of Eternity.
In other news, Larian Studios also teased that news about the Xbox port of Baldur’s Gate 3 will possibly arrive this week along with news about a physical release. The only way to play the RPG right now is to purchase it digitally on PC and PS5.
