Larian Studios has confirmed that the release date for the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be announced at The Game Awards in December. The studio has also stated that the RPG, which has been nominated for multiple awards at the show, will still launch before the end of 2023.
With that news, we hope that Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch soon after the awards take place on 7 December. We might even get a surprise “on the night” release meaning players can purchase Baldur’s Gate 3 as soon as the event ends. However, I am doubtful of that.

Given how most places shut down in December for the festive season Larian Studios will likely launch Baldur’s Gate 3 for Xbox within a few days or perhaps a week of the show. This gives the team enough time to roll the game out and issue any patches it might need on the platform.
While Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a huge success across PC and PS5, the game’s constant need for hotfixes and bug patches is a concern. If the Xbox version suffers from the same issue, it means the studio might work well into the Christmas period addressing these bugs,
Baldur’s Gate 3 launched in August for PC and in September for PS5. The game was delayed indefinitely for Xbox following limited resources on the Xbox Series S which prevented the studio from implementing split-screen co-op into the game.
Following months of development trouble, Larian then came to an agreement with Microsoft to leave split-screen co-op out of the Xbox Series S version. This will be the first time a game has launched on Xbox with a feature completely missing on the Xbox Series S due to performance limitations.
