Neil Newbon, the voice actor behind Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3, says he’d love to work with Bethesda in the future, specifically on a Fallout game. The actor swept up awards last year for his portrayal of Astarion, winning Best Performance at The Game Awards.
During a recent interview with BAFTA, Neil Newbon was asked what’s next for his career. “There are definitely people I’d love to work with,” said Newbon, briefly mentioning Sony’s big studios like Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games and Santa Monica. However, he added, “Bethesda stuff – I love Fallout, man. I’d love to do that.”
Despite Baldur’s Gate 3 possibly being the last Dungeons and Dragons game that developer Larian Studios will work on for the time being, Newbon says he’s quite interested in playing Astarion again in some shape or form. “To be honest with you, I’d love to play Astarion again, somehow,” he said. “I would love to do that. That would be awesome. Live-action or game, I don’t care. Advert for grape juice, I don’t know, whatever.”
His comment about Bethesda is interesting since he might seem like a good fit for an NPC in Fallout or The Elder Scrolls. With The Elder Scrolls 6 currently in active development, hopefully Bethesda hears his call and gives him a role in another massive RPG.
Larian Studios recently detailed the massive Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 which introduces a modding toolkit, split-screen changes and a number of tweaks and fixes for characters. In Astarion’s case, his kissing animations have been improved and now characters will react more empathetically to him when he loses his ability to withstand sunlight. Before the patch, characters just kind of shrugged off Astarion’s sunlight blight but at least he’ll get a reaction this time.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
