Bandai Namco has announced that the publisher has plans to expand the Elden Ring IP outside of the video game. During its retail sales press release, which marks the game’s 12 million units sold, the company says that fans should look forward to more Elden Ring as an IP going forward.
While it is still too early to tell what this means for the Elden Ring series, FromSoftware will most likely work on spin-off stories that might live outside of the video game world. This could come in the form of comic books and perhaps even a possible TV show. Given that George R.R Martin played a crucial role in creating the Elden Ring IP, the writer could also be working on his own unique content inspired by the game.

Let’s not forget that a sequel to Elden Ring is always a possibility too. Given the success of the game, I won’t be surprised if FromSoftware has multiple sequels in mind. The developer expanded the Dark Souls series into three video game releases that acted as a trilogy of sorts.
The press release reads:
Please look forward to more of “ELDEN RING” as an IP (characters and other intellectual property) in hopes of expanding beyond the realm of games.
The press release does mention that whatever Bandai Namco wants to do with Elden Ring, it will try and live outside of games. This most likely hints at media such as comic books, shows and perhaps even collectable items such as figurines and merchandise. Whatever it is, we can’t wait to see what they have in store for fans.
