Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, the upcoming action-RPG from Life is Strange developer Don’t Nod, has been delayed out of its late 2023 release window and into early 2024. While the extra time in development will afford Don’t Nod more time to polish the game, the company mainly shifted it out of the busy late 2023 window of game releases in order to give Banishers “the attention it deserves.”
Don’t Nod CEO Oskar Guilbert announced the delay of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, confirming that it will now launch on 13 February 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game was originally intended to launch in late 2023 but due to the oversaturated release schedule of AAA games in the next three months, Don’t Nod has made the wise decision to push the action-RPG into a more suitable February 2024 release in order to give it a fighting chance.

Guilbert revealed in a recent post:
“We have decided to postpone the release of this new franchise by three months, as the market is experiencing an intense release cycle for AAA titles on PC and consoles at the end of the year. We are convinced that a commercial release of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden during a less saturated period will give it the attention it deserves.”
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden follows two ghost hunters who eventually bond and fall in love, though their love is tested when one of them becomes a spirit – the very thing that they hunt. The story seems to leverage Don’t Nod’s penchant for delivering strong emotional stories but the action-RPG gameplay is a refreshing change of pace from its usual interactive story-driven games.
The rest of 2023 is looking pretty stacked for game releases so we don’t blame Don’t Nod. This includes big AAA releases like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Super Mario Bros. Wonder as well as the highly anticipated PS5 superhero game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and the promising Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora from Ubisoft.
