Bayonetta 3 Release Date Officially Announced with New Trailer

Nintendo and developer Platinum Games have officially announced the release date for Bayonetta 3. The anticipated action title will be coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on 28 October 2022. The news was confirmed via a brand new gameplay trailer showing off a few new characters, boss fights and enemies.

It turns out that the previous leak was correct. Bayonetta 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch this October, following the news of it receiving an M rating by the ESRB and an 18 rating by PEGI, listed as containing violence, blood and gore, partial nudity, strong language and in-game purchases.

The latest trailer for Bayonetta 3 offers fans a glimpse into some brand new gameplay as well as new characters, particularly the mysterious Viola who appears to be playable in the game. Bayonetta will also be able to use a new ability called Demon Masquerade that allows her to channel demons linked to her weapon. Other than that, the gameplay isn’t a huge leap but it definitely delivers the same high-octane and flashy combat that Platinum Games is known for when it comes to the Bayonetta series.

Nintendo provided a detailed description of Bayonetta 3:

“In this third installment of the Bayonetta series, the unstoppable Umbra Witch must join forces with some familiar faces, the mysterious Viola and a multitude of other Bayonettas to stop human-made Homunculi from wreaking havoc.

In the game, you’ll make use of Bayonetta’s wicked weapons and powerful new Demon Masquerade ability to blast, stomp and slam enemies with exciting over-the-top combos and demonic powers. Prove you’re the baddest witch around by battling an evil that’s bent on plunging humanity into the depths of chaos.”

  • A Bounty of Bayonettas: Meet a veritable coven of Bayonettas, each more fabulous than the last, while fighting through the streets of Tokyo, the mountains of China and beyond! Along the way, find out if this arcane alliance can really save humanity and what fate awaits this bunch of Bayonettas.
  • Rough Up Rivals as Viola: In addition to Bayonetta, players will also control the feisty witch-in-training Viola, who is ready to unleash hell on the Homunculi with her sword and her capricious companion, the feline demon Cheshire.

The game will come in both the standard edition and the Trinity Masquerade Edition featuring a 200-page art book and 3 reversible game cases for each game in the series. Nintendo also confirmed that it will release the first Bayonetta as a limited standalone physical edition on 30 September.
