Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus was, in my opinion, hands-down the best single-player FPS title released last year, and this year too for that matter. Wolfenstein fans across the globe were probably hoping that it wasn’t the last we see of William B.J Blazkwicz, aka Terror Billy. However, at E3 this year, Bethesda announced something we weren’t expecting: Wolfenstein Young Blood.
Sure, Young Blood looks great and you can watch the trailer below, but nothing beats a new game in the main story of Wolfenstein. Thankfully, Bethesda have confirmed that are making a proper follow up in the form of Wolfenstein III.
This news comes from an interview (by Metro.co.uk) with Bethesda’s Vice President, Pete Hines, who talked about the Wolfenstein franchise and their plans, stating that:
“At the end of the day Wolfenstein did well for us, because we’re about to do two more Wolfenstein games. Could it have done better? Sure. Absolutely we’re making a Wolfenstein III. They said on stage that they’re taking a break from the larger story to do this thing. But we all have to see how that ends.”
I, for one, can already feel that good old trigger-finger itches and we simply can’t wait to see Wolfenstein III, which will probably be announced at next year’s E3. Developer MachineGames first needs to finish up Young Blood, so don’t expect the return of Terror Billy for quite some time still.
Obviously, there are no screenshots or videos of Wolfenstein III to share right now, so instead check out Young Blood if you missed it. The game is a co-op experience (you can play solo as well) set 19 years after the events of The New Colossus where you play as one of Terror Billy’s two daughters; and it looks awesome.
