When Starfield launched back in September 2023, it received mostly positive reviews from critics, though fans weren’t too thrilled at some of the changes and general lack of polish in the game, especially from a studio known for its intricate world-building from The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Over the years, Bethesda Game Studios has attempted to mend the game’s flaws. Now, it’s promising players “exciting” updates planned for this year.
Bethesda is well aware that fans are eager for any Starfield updates, especially since the studio shifted its focus towards The Elder Scrolls 6. The team released a statement on social media revealing that they’re hard at work on “a lot of exciting things” planned for this year, though they couldn’t offer any specific details.
The response from Bethesda reads:
“We know you’re eager for an update, and we truly appreciate your passion for Starfield. The team has been hard at work, and while we’re not ready to share specific details just yet, we have a lot of exciting things planned for the game this year that we can’t wait to talk about when the time is right. We’re always listening and taking your feedback to heart. Thanks for being part of this journey with us.”

Starfield got its first major expansion, Shattered Space, last year, though it didn’t fare well with critics and fans who felt that it failed to address many of the problems from the base game. It seems like Bethesda isn’t ready to give up on Starfield yet and might have another potential expansion on the way, though we’re also completely fine with the studio doubling down on the development of The Elder Scrolls 6 instead. It’s been seven long years.
