Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update the Good Bad Ugly

Bethesda’s Todd Howard Says He Won’t Rush Fallout 5

Bethesda director Todd Howard says he feels no need to rush the development of Fallout 5, especially after the success of the Prime Video TV show. While Fallout fever hit an all-time high after the TV show’s arrival, there was no need to rush out a new Fallout game as fans returned to the older titles like Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas. It might be quite a while until we see the next major entry in the franchise.

Speaking to MrMattyPlays in a new interview, Todd Howard spoke about Fallout 5 but it wasn’t great news for fans hoping that the sequel was right around the corner. Howard stated that the TV show already filled a “certain niche in terms of the franchise and storytelling” that might tide players over until the next game arrives. Amazon has already greenlit season 2 of the series and there’s possibly more to come over the next decade, if it continues to be a success.

Howard stated:

“For other Fallout games in the future, you know, obviously I can’t talk about those right now, but I would say, sort of rushing through them, or we kind of need to get stuff out that is different than the work we’re doing in 76…we don’t feel like we need to rush any of that. The Fallout TV show fills a certain niche in terms of the franchise and storytelling.”

To address the elephant in the room, Bethesda Game Studios, a developer that historically always focused on one project at a time, is currently working on The Elder Scrolls 6 which will be its next major release. Conflicting reports in the past don’t really give us an indication when the fantasy RPG will arrive so we can only recommend bracing for a very long wait for that as well as the next Fallout.
