We still don’t have a release date for the upcoming prequel to the classic Beyond Good and Evil from Ubisoft, nor do we even know if this will be a next-gen or cross-gen title. However, from what we’ve seen so far Beyond Good and Evil 2 is looking fantastic and it is getting better and better, with seamless transitions between a planet and solar system exploration, co-op and more, but will it really have a major impact on video games?

The Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, seems to think so. Ubisoft recently opened a new office for its development team working on Beyond Good and Evil 2. The French studio, Montpellier, now has a new office building and they added another 150 developers to their roster. This means that 500 developers are working on the game right now.
While talking about the new office, Yves Guillemot mentioned that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will likely have a major impact on video games, stating to French website Le Point (as translated by Gamerevolution) that:

Montpellier is a very important world studio for us, which has shown the way to innovation thanks to Rayman. Our teams are currently working on Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is likely to have a major impact on video games.[/perfectpullquote]
At the time of writing, there is no indication when Beyond Good and Evil 2 will release or exactly how it will have a major impact on video games, but Ubisoft does seem very confident in the title.
