Ubisoft has officially revealed the release date for Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, a complete remaster of the original 2003 action/adventure game. In fact, it releases as soon as next week on 25 June for consoles and PC, bringing the beloved cult classic to modern hardware. Unfortunately, there’s no sign of Beyond Good and Evil 2 yet.
Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition brings with it a number of visual and performance improvements in the remaster including 4K 60FPS support, autosave, cutscene skips, full controller and keyboard/mouse support and cross-saves available on all platforms. A new speedrun mode as well as updated achievements will also be added to the new release.
The official description for Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition reads:
“Return to Hillys alongside Jade, Pey’J, Double H and all of Beyond Good & Evil‘s colorful characters and embark on a journey that will -literally- take you to the Moon! Discover the new Anniversary Gallery, the re-orchestrated iconic Soundtrack and more in this special edition. Learn more about Jade’s childhood and her link to Beyond Good & Evil 2 thanks to a new treasure hunt throughout Hillys! Collect exclusive cosmetic rewards as you progress through the game and explore the planet.”
Limited Run Games announced that it will be handling the physical editions for all consoles, with pre-orders opening on 12 July. It seems like the game will release digitally first before players can get their hands on a physical version at a later stage.
This follows a PSN update that suggested we’d get news soon about the title. It’s bizarre that no announcement was made during the Ubisoft Forward event earlier this month, which would’ve certainly drawn more eyes to this special edition. Perhaps Ubisoft is trying to quietly scoot the Beyond Good and Evil IP out without giving too much attention to the fact that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still nowhere to be seen.
Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition launches on 25 June 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
