A TV series adaptation of Beyond: Two Souls, the narrative-driven psychological action thriller from developer Quantic Dream, is currently in the works under Pageboy Productions, the company founded by actor Elliot Page who originally starred in the game.
As reported by Deadline, the TV series adaptation of Beyond: Two Souls is currently in the works under Elliot Page and Pageboy Productions, though other details such as the cast and crew are unclear for the time being. The original game also starred Willem Dafoe and followed the story of Jodie Holmes (Page), a girl born with a supernatural link to an entity called Aiden. The adaptation is reportedly in the early stages of development and will explore the game’s non-linear, fractured narrative.
Talking about the experience of working on Beyond: Two Souls, Page stated:
“Filming the game was one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences of my career. The story’s rich narrative and emotional depth offer us a fantastic foundation. We want to create a unique vision of the characters and their journeys that resonates with fans and newcomers.”
Pageboy’s head of development and production Matt Jordan Smith added, “This adaptation will honor the game’s legacy while inviting fresh perspectives. Delving into questions of survival and how split-second decisions can alter not just our lives, but the lives of others, are key to telling the story.”
Video game adaptations are quickly on the rise in Hollywood. Sony recently announced a handful of new movie and TV adaptations for its PlayStation IPs including a Ghost of Tsushima anime, a Helldivers 2 movie, a new live-action Horizon Zero Dawn project which will be a movie now instead of a series. We also have to take into the account the tremendous successes of projects like Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Fallout and The Last of Us which all scores favourably with critics and fans.
