Biomutant, the 2021 action-RPG developed by Experiment 101 and published by THQ Nordic, is finally coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 6 September 2022. Players who already own the game will be able to upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions for free, bringing a host of upgrades and enhancements to the current generation.
Both upgraded versions of Biomutant will offer faster loading times, 4K and HDR support and 60FPS options. Players will be given three options for graphics modes: Quality, Quality Unleashed, and Performance.

In Quality, PS5 and Xbox Series X players will lock the game to 30FPS at 4K resolution. In Quality Unleashed, this is boosted up to 50-60FPS at 4K resolution. In Performance, the visuals will be locked at 60FPS at 1440p. The Xbox Series S version will be slightly different, locking its resolution on Quality and Quality Unleashed to 1440p and delivering 1080p in Performance.
PS5 players will get DualSense features as well, including haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support. Additionally, progress made on the PS4 and Xbox One versions will be carried over to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The official description for Biomutant (via the game’s Steam page) reads:
“Biomutant is an open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG, with a unique martial arts styled combat system allowing you to mix melee, shooting and mutant ability action.
A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided. Explore a world in turmoil and define its fate – will you be its saviour or lead it to an even darker destiny?”
