Soulslike Games Elden Ring Lies of P Black Myth

Black Myth: Wukong Store Pages Go Live Ahead of Gamescom

Black Myth: Wukong, the upcoming Soulslike action-RPG from Game Science, remains one of the most anticipated releases of next year. While we’ve received little information about the game other than an update earlier this year, fans can look forward to seeing new gameplay and hopefully get a concrete release date at Gamescom Opening Night Live tomorrow night. However, ahead of its 2024 launch, the game’s PC store pages have now gone live suggesting that a release date could be around the corner.

As spotted by GamesRadar, Black Myth: Wukong‘s Steam and Epic Games Store pages recently went live over the weekend ahead of Gamescom. The game was first unveiled in 2020 but has since gone through a reportedly rough development cycle. Last year, reports surfaced about some key developers exiting Game Science over creative differences, not to mention that by August 2021, apparently only one area of the game was actually in a playable state.

It’s been a couple of years since the scathing reports came out, though, so it’s possible that development might’ve shifted back on track since then. The company seems confident in its 2024 release window but with the game’s store pages going live, it’s only a matter of time before we finally get a release date.

For those that don’t know, Black Myth: Wukong is a reimagining of the classic Chinese literature Journey to the West. It incorporates Soulslike ARPG gameplay similar to Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice but its premise really sets itself apart from other similar games in the genre.

Developer Game Science says players will have an arsenal of “spells, transformations and magic vessels” at their disposal” which are all “iconic combat elements in Chinese mythology.” Players will be encouraged to mix and match different spells, weapons and items in order to find their preferred playstyle. Black Myth: Wukong launches in 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
