Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Beta Dates

Black Ops 6 Had The Biggest Beta in Call of Duty History

Activision has claimed that the recent multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was the biggest beta in the franchise’s history. An early access beta began on 30 August and ran until 4 September, where it was closed to players who had pre-ordered the game. The beta was then opened to the public from 6-9 September, bringing in record-breaking player numbers for the franchise.

As revealed by Activision, the recent beta for Black Ops 6 ranked first for the total number of players, the total number of hours played and the most matches played. This was no doubt helped by the fact that the beta was available on all platforms simultaneously. In the past, most Call of Duty betas were limited to PlayStation due to exclusivity arrangements, meaning PS4 or PS5 players got first preference. After Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard, the company broke tradition by opening the beta at the same time on consoles and PC.

With the beta being available to play at the same time on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, it definitely contributed to the strong player numbers over the past two weekends.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will release day one on Xbox Game Pass when it launches this October. However, it will only be available to Game Pass members subscribed to the higher tiers. Unfortunately, Activision confirmed that players will need a constant internet connection to play this year’s Call of Duty title, even for the single-player campaign which has history offered offline play.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on 25 October 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
