Kubo, who was unable to attend the Anime Expo panel, recorded a video message for fans where he explained that the new Bleach anime will use modern contemporary colouring and a wholly unique art style that’s different from what we’ve seen before. He added that he’s closely involved in all aspects of the anime, though admitted that some scenes from the manga were omitted from the anime, though plans to add them back in if possible.
Additionally, Viz Media revealed striking new key art for the anime:
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will once again be animated by Studio Pierrot and will air in October 2022. It will cover the rest of Kubo’s manga up until its ending. If you happen to be around Tokyo in September, an advanced screening of the first two episodes will happen on 11 September.
Noriyuki Abe, the director of the original Bleach anime, will be replaced by Akudama Drive and Kino’s Journey – The Beautiful World director Tomohisa Taguchi. Shiro Sagisu will also return as the composer, who gave Bleach most of its most memorable music.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War airs in October 2022 or the Fall 2022 anime season. It will likely air alongside the Chainsaw Man anime from MAPPA studio, which is also scheduled to air this October. Check out the new trailer below.
