Bless Unleashed South Africa

Bless Unleashed Cancelled in South Africa Due to “Game Laws and Regulations”

The upcoming free-to-play MMO, Bless Unleashed won’t release in South Africa. The game just recently wrapped up its beta phase in which South African gamers would participate and enjoy the game. However, according to Neowiz, the full release, which is expected to land on 6 August, won’t be available for purchase in the country.

Multiple readers have reached out to us in order to get some clarification for the cancellation. Unfortunately, after emailing the Neowiz PR and asking for feedback, they have not responded. A message from the social media accounts did reply to use saying that due to the laws and regulations in South Africa, Bless Unleashed is not accessible to gamers.

The statement I received from the social media team isn’t clear on what is happening. Readers also report receiving the same response.

“Unfortunately due to game regulation laws in South Africa the team announced on July 26th that users from there would not be able to access the game.”

I went searching and it seems Bless Unleashed did announce the cancellation on 26 July. In a blog post, they claim that the game’s cancellation is due to “country-specific game regulation laws”. The full statement reads:

Bless Unleashed PC aims to provide a global game service for all countries without restrictions. However, the game access is restricted for the country below due to the country-specific game regulation laws.

  • County: South Africa
  • Restricted platform for game access: Steam, BlessUnleashed.com
  • Effective date: August 2nd, 2021

What these game regulations are is not clear. We also don’t know whether or not anything will change. We have again reached out to see why the game is not available in the country.
