Blizzard Are “Prepared” For Diablo 4 Launch Traffic

Blizzard claims the developer is ready to handle the millions of gamers jumping into Diablo 4 in the next few days. On Friday, Diablo 4 launches in early access followed by the game’s main launch on Tuesday next week.

While the staggered launch will help reduce the server congestion, Blizzard hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to online, server-based game launches. In fact, there isn’t a single Blizzard video game launched in the history of gaming where the servers didn’t crash and players wasted multiple hours waiting to play the game.

According to Diablo 4 general manager Rod Fergusson, Blizzard has learnt a lot from the past beta tests to prepare itself for the launch this week. He claims that the launch will go as “smooth as possible”.

“We’re feeling better, like we feel good about that, like all the stuff that we’ve learned. We’ve done the work we could do to make launch day as smooth as possible. And we feel good about where we are.”

Diablo 4 kicks off at 2 am tomorrow morning. You can read our full guide on the pre-load and launch times for the game here. However, even though Blizzard is confident that the game will launch without problems, I wouldn’t bank on playing it right as the servers go live.

The same can be said for next week when the official release occurs. With millions of players jumping into the game, expect some speedbumps along the way.
