Blizzard Details Diablo IV Spiritborn Class in Vessel of Hatred Expansion

Blizzard has shared new information on the upcoming class in the Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred expansion. The class is called the Spiritborn and you’ll call upon spirit animals to help fight the armies of Hell.

In a blog post, Blizzard detailed the new class and even provided backstory lore as to where it originates from. Blizzard says the Spiritborn class comes from the jungle of Nahantu. The class relies on the spirit strength of the Jaguar, Gorilla, Eagle and Centipede Spirit Guardians to fight.

Essentially, these spirits determine the attack style for your build. The Eagle Spirit comes with a handful of skills. For example. Soar sees players fly into the air and slam down on enemies. Quill Volley hurls feathers at enemies which pierce through them.

The Gorilla Spirit deals in rush attacks with large AOE. The Centipede handles AOE attacks too but inflicts poison on enemies while performing skills. Using these spirits determines how players will build their play style. Each spirit comes with an adaptive stance. Casting a skill grants this stance. For example, the Eagle grants 30% movement speed while the Gorilla grants 30% damage reduction.

Of course, this is still an early look at the class. Blizzard says players will be able to strengthen their builds with a new class quest and deepen the connection to their spirits using the Spirit Hall. The class also relies on the new Key Passives to truly shine in combat. By the look of things, this class is going to offer a lot of freedom to experiment with skills and gear.

The Spiritborn class is part of the upcoming Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred expansion which is set to launch on 8 October. You can watch the skills in action on the official blog post here and view the trailer below.
