Overwatch 2 Steam Blizzard Entertainment August

Blizzard Games are Coming to Steam Starting With Overwatch 2

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that it’s going to make a handful of its games available on Steam starting with Overwatch 2 in August. However, players will still require a Battle.net account in order to access the games. Blizzard didn’t mention which games will be arriving on Steam after Overwatch 2 or how long it will take, though we assume some of the publisher’s most popular and played titles will be heading there soon.

The free-to-play hero shooter Overwatch 2 will be the first Blizzard game added to Steam on 10 August 2023. That’s just the start, though, as Blizzard said it will “be sharing more about potential other games coming to the platform when the time is right.”

Blizzard president Mike Ybarra talked about the move to make the company’s games more widely available through Steam:

“It’s our goal at Blizzard to listen to players and try to exceed their expectations in everything we do. While Battle.net remains a priority for us now and into the future, we’ve heard players want the choice of Steam for a selection of our games, starting with Overwatch 2 on August 10th. We’re happy to work with Valve to make that happen.”

Valve boss Gabe Newell welcomes the addition of Blizzard’s games on Steam too, stating:

“Gamers will have another platform where they can play a beloved game that utilizes the capabilities of Steam, and developers will benefit from the effects of having the talented team at Blizzard helping us evolve our supported features and functionality for Overwatch 2.”

It’s possible that Blizzard’s current popular titles such as Diablo 4 will also eventually make its way to Steam in the future but for now, Steam users can at least enjoy Overwatch 2. We’ll keep you updated on any new information as soon as Blizzard Entertainment announces the next game heading to Steam.
