Blizzard Entertainment doesn’t intend on adding Diablo 4, its upcoming dark fantasy action-RPG, to the Xbox Game Pass library anytime soon. The company recently confirmed on social media that it has “no plans” to include the game on Game Pass, seemingly in light of Microsoft potentially acquiring publisher Activision Blizzard.
Responding to several fans on Twitter asking if Diablo 4 would be coming to Game Pass, Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson addressed those concerns by stating that there’s currently no plans to include it on the subscription service. While there’s never been any rumours or reports to suggest Diablo 4 might arrive on Game Pass, it seems like Blizzard got a few questions about it anyway.

Naturally this may have to do with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which aims to add a plethora of the publisher’s titles to Game Pass once the deal goes through. It seems like Blizzard doesn’t want Diablo 4 to be one of those additions, at least for now. It’s possible that we’ll see older Diablo titles such as Diablo 3 and Diablo 2: Resurrected arrive on the service, but don’t expect the latest entry to appear there unless something changes leading up to the game’s release.
Fergusson’s full response reads:
“It’s awesome seeing the excitement around the Diablo IV Beta, and our Wolf Pack puppy! We’ve been getting some questions about D4 on Game Pass and I want to let you know we have no plans for that. See you in Sanctuary during the Beta Early Access weekend starting on March 17!”
While Microsoft continues to face uphill battles with getting the deal approved by the CMA, Blizzard will host early access and open beta weekends for Diablo 4 starting on 17 March for the former and 24 March for the latter. The beta will be available on all platforms with full cross-play support.
Diablo 4 launches on 6 June 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
