Overwatch 2 Reaper Skin Double XP Weekends Blizzard Launch

Blizzard Offers Overwatch 2 Reaper Skin and Double XP Weekends to Make Up for Launch

Blizzard Entertainment is giving away a Reaper skin and double XP weekends for Overwatch 2 as a way to say sorry for the game’s notoriously rocky launch. This digital bundle contains the “Cursed Captain” Reaper skin, a health pack weapon charm and double XP weekends which you can claim on Blizzard’s official website right now.

Overwatch 2 was plagued with a list of issues at launch, including server issues and DDoS attacks, players losing account progression, the excessive amount of time you’ll need to put in to unlock new heroes – it’s a mess. While several of these issues are still ongoing and most have yet to be directly addressed by Blizzard, the company is seemingly well aware of the bad press the game is receiving right now.

MORE OVERWATCH 2 – Unlocking a Legendary Skin in Overwatch 2 Takes Over 8 Months of Grinding

For many, offering an okay-looking Reaper skin and double XP weekends won’t be enough to sway Overwatch 2 players who were affected by the launch issues. Blizzard promised that it will continue working on bug fixes and stabilisation as the free-to-play hero shooter keeps gaining more and more new players.

In related news, if you’ve got 8 months to spare and don’t mind grinding in Overwatch 2, then that will apparently be the required time to unlock a single legendary skin for a character. Overwatch 2 switched to free-to-play after its predecessor was full price, but it also brought some of the terrible practices usually associated with free-to-play games, it seems. Hopefully Blizzard can remedy this and rebalance certain aspects of the game before players deem it an unnecessary, demanding effort.

Blizzard Entertainment is aiming to bring BlizzCon back in 2023, which might give players more clarity on its future projects, including the single-player PvE content that’s still in development for Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV‘s still unknown release date.

Overwatch 2 is currently available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
