Earlier this week, reports surfaced about Bloober Team, the studio behind The Medium and Blair Witch, potentially working on a remake of Konami’s legendary horror game, Silent Hill 2. When pressed about the rumours, Bloober CEO Piotr Babieno stopped short of confirming anything, though he hopes that a reveal will happen as soon as possible.
Speaking to IGN recently, Babieno was asked about the reports of Bloober Team actually working on a Silent Hill 2 remake with Konami. While it’s common knowledge now that Bloober Team and Konami previously signed a partnership deal to work on a mysterious new project, the details about their partnership and what the studio is actually working on remains unknown.

Babieno’s full response to the reports reads:
“We can’t comment on anything we are doing because we appreciate our relationship with our partners, of course. So we can’t [say] anything. We will make an announcement about our future projects as soon as we can. So, then you will know much more. Officially.”
Babieno would later talk about the importance of Bloober Team putting its own spin on things, even if the developer isn’t the IP holder. It’s not clear if he’s talking about the project with Konami at this point:
“I would say that it’s hard to work with someone who [owns an IP you’re working on], but we are always talking with those licensors, [saying] ‘Guys we would like to use your license, but we would like to tell our own story.’
If we are not able to tell our own story, if we will not have creative freedom, it doesn’t make sense, because Bloober Team will not make a great game.
If you are in a prison, you will not be able to fly. So that’s why we are trying to only [make] those titles in which we are feeling, ‘OK, it will be a Bloober Team game, not someone [else’s].’ So even on the project we can’t talk [about], it will still be a Bloober Team title.”
A remake of Silent Hill 2 is rumoured to be in the works at Bloober Team, along with a potential new mainline entry in the series as well as episodic titles.
