During the Xbox Partner Preview showcase last night, Bloober Team announced a surprising new horror game called Cronos: The New Dawn. While the name choice is questionable, the cinematic trailer left me wanting more.
Little is known about the game at this point. The trailer flies through various scenes as a sci-fi astronaut-looking character explores a dark apartment while an elderly lady is playing a bloody game of chess. I suspect this location takes place at various time points. Unsure at the moment.
The astronaut seemingly wins the chess match, pushes the table aside and reaches for this lady while mechanical finger prongs come out of the suit arm. The trailer then switches to an outdoor scene that shows the building split across its structure and the world shrouded in darkness.
There’s also a brief look at gameplay. However, this scene is only a few seconds long and shows the character walking through the rubble while human bodies are towered around them. One falls from the ceiling in the distance.
If anything, the trailer confirms Cronos: The New Dawn is a third-person horror shooter. Players will seemingly fight these grotesque humanoid creatures. Apart from that, we don’t know how deep it goes. The Xbox announcement page says “The past, present, and future are always intertwined” hinting at some sort of time jump, as seen in the trailer too.
Cronos: The New Dawn is scheduled to launch in 2025 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC in 2025.
Delve deep into the heart of a deadly struggle against overwhelming foes with combat driven gameplay, all while uncovering the mysteries of a twisted time travel story.
