Rumours are, yet again, swirling about a potential announcement for Bloodborne happening soon, either as a remaster or remake of the beloved From Software dark fantasy action-RPG. Recently, PlayStation released an ad celebrating 30 years of the company. The video ended on a clip of Bloodborne, giving fans hope that it might be teasing a long-awaited announcement with all signs pointing to The Game Awards tomorrow. However, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has shut down these rumours.
Jason Schreier, who has built a reputation on being pretty reliable in the games industry, recently talked about his excitement for two big announcements that will be happening at The Game Awards “for games that are years away.”
Speaking on the Kinda Funny games podcast about potential reveals at The Game Awards, Schreier hyped up two announcements in particular, stating:
“What can I say without getting in trouble? So I know about a couple of announcements that are going to be there, and they definitely qualify as big announcements. That said, big announcements are games that won’t be out for years. So I think there’s a good chance that you’ll see one or two teaser trailers for a game that is 2026 or even later… So I think that will be the case with a couple of things… There are at least two things that will make you guys react and be like ‘holy shit, I can’t believe this thing is here!'”
Many fans speculated that Schreier could’ve been talking about Bloodborne but according to the journalist, that’s simply not the case. Responding to the Reddit thread, he answered a comment saying, “It might really be Bloodborne this time…” with a simple “No.”
Game director Hidetaka Miyazaki made it clear before that while From Software would love to do something with the Bloodborne IP, that decision is ultimately up to Sony.
