The demand for a Bloodborne PC port or remake/remaster has reached astronomical highs but Sony hasn’t buckled under the pressure. According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, a lot of the team at From Software really want to see a PC port get made so that more players can experience the game. Unfortunately, this isn’t a decision that’s up to him as PlayStation ultimately has the final say in whether that happens or not.
Speaking to PC Gamer in a recent interview, Hidetaka Miyazaki was once again pressed about a potential PC port of Bloodborne. He gave a surprisingly honest answer while dancing around the fact that it’s entirely up to Sony if that happens. “I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port,” said Miyazaki as the From Software crew laughed. “If I say I want one, I’ll get in trouble as well. But it’s nothing I’m opposed to.”
Miyazaki goes on to say:
“Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I’d love more players to be able to enjoy it. Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it’d be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I’m concerned, that’s definitely not something I’d be opposed to.”
At this point, I’m sure Miyazaki has gotten tired of responding to questions asking about a Bloodborne PC port or remake/remaster but the answer, it seems, is always the same. Ultimately, the ball is in Sony’s court.
As for why something related to Bloodborne hasn’t actually happened yet, fans have their own theories. One popular theory floating around is that since Japan Studio closed down, the source code for Bloodborne was lost which means no future work could be done on the game. This would be mitigated by a complete remake of the game too – another theory suggests that Demon’s Souls remake studio Bluepoint Games has been quietly working on a Bloodborne remake. That certainly explains the secrecy but again, we’ll never know until the announcement.
