Soulslike RPG Elden Ring Bloodborne Nioh Hollow Knight

Bloodborne Movie Reportedly in Development

A live-action movie adaptation of Bloodborne, the 2015 acclaimed dark fantasy action-RPG from developer From Software, is reportedly in the works. Sony has been tight-lipped about its future plans for the Bloodborne IP, depite growing fan demand for a remake, remaster or sequel of the game. However, a new rumour claims that it’s heading to the big screen first with a movie adaptation from the producer behind the Transformers movies.

The rumour originates from DanielRPK, a renowned leaker in the movie and TV world who has been mostly accurate with their reports and leaks thus far. According to the leaker, the Bloodborne movie is being developed at Sony Pictures under PlayStation Productions with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who previously produced Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise, the G.I. Joe movies and recently, Meg 2: The Trench.

The script is reportedly being written by Darren Lemke, the screenwriter behind Gemini Man, Jack the Giant Slayer and Shazam. The leaked logline for the live-action movie reads:

“Sony project based on the PlayStation game of the same name. Bloodborne follows the player’s character, a Hunter, through the decrepit Gothic, Victorian-era-inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants are afflicted with a blood-borne disease which transforms the residents, called Yharnamites, into horrific beasts. Attempting to find the source of the plague, the player’s character unravels the city’s mysteries while fighting beasts and cosmic beings.”

We recommend taking all of this with a pinch of salt for now until we get confirmation from Sony and PlayStation. However, this seems to be in line with Sony’s efforts to adapt many of its big IPs into movies or television shows – of which there are several currently in development.

A Ghost of Tsushima movie is currently in the works from John Wick director Chad Stahelski while Horizon Zero Dawn is being turned into a Netflix TV series. Meanwhile, Amazon is apparently producing a God of War TV show. The Gran Turismo movie recently released in cinemas too.

Bloodborne is available on PS4.
