Bloodborne PC Emulation Community is Making Progress

Sony has yet to answer the prayers of thousands if not millions of players asking for a PC port of its PS4 exclusive Bloodborne, so the community has taken it upon themselves to try and emulate the experience. The PC emulation community has been attempting to successfully bring From Software’s gothic fantasy RPG to PC for some time but now progress is finally being made.

User and modder George Moralis recently shared a video on ResetEra showing the progress being made on ShadPS4, an emulation of Bloodborne on PC. The video showed that they’re only able to get as far as Bloodborne‘s menu screen but this is the first sign of progress in a while. Previous attempts to emulate Bloodborne apparently didn’t go too well as it raised plenty of issues with sound and graphics, though ShadPS4 seems like the biggest push so far to get it done properly.

It’s still a very far cry from a fully playable build of Bloodborne being available on PC but this is decent progress. However, the hardest work is yet to come as the emulation community now has to painstakingly tweak the sound and graphics to make it as smooth as possible, all the while attempting to boost the frame rate without any technical hiccups. If they’re successful, then they would’ve done what Sony has failed to do for almost a decade.

Rumours have come and gone concerning a PC port of Bloodborne – a decision that’s ultimately up to Sony in the end. As it turns out, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and company seem to really want Bloodborne on PC, though it’s out of From Software’s hands. Miyazaki stated:

“Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I’d love more players to be able to enjoy it. Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it’d be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I’m concerned, that’s definitely not something I’d be opposed to.”

Bloodborne is only available on PS4. Check out the WIP PC emulation below:
