When Gearbox Software announced Borderlands 3 late last month, it almost broke the internet. Fans of the franchise have been waiting for this announcement for several years and Gearbox outdid themselves with a fantastic trailer, 1 billion guns and some really cool characters shown during the reveal. Since then, we’ve learned about all the new weapon types and manufacturers, and there was even a hidden message in Morse code found by avid fans. Now, Gearbox has announced the Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal and it is coming relatively soon.

The Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal stream will happen on 1 May 2019 at 17:00 South African time over on the official Borderlands Twitch.tv channel, so mark those calendars. Gearbox is clearly doing things the right way, as so many games wait months (or even years) after an official announcement to show some real gameplay. After the official Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal, you will also be able to watch hundreds of other streamers playing the game. Gearbox explains that:
We’re excited to answer at least some of these questions and lots more during the Borderlands 3 Worldwide Gameplay Reveal event on May 1. The event will feature the first ever showing of Borderlands 3 gameplay, as well as commentary from the Gearbox development team on everything from the new Vault Hunters and their respective skills to interplanetary travel and sweet, sweet loot.
Shortly after the Gearbox presentation, you’ll be able to watch literally hundreds of your favorite live streamers playing and sharing their impressions of Borderlands 3 for the first time. Whether you’re a longtime Borderlands fan or a newcomer to the franchise, this first look at what’s coming September 13 is a must-see.
But that’s not all. Gearbox is teasing that there are more hidden secrets for fans to uncover. Earlier this month some fans uncovered that there was a hidden message in Morse code on the Twitch.tv channel. Now, Gearbox has shared a huge image of the cover art, hinting that there are more secrets to uncover.
“Many interesting Borderlands 3 theories—some of them with decent accuracy ratings—have been floated following frame-by-frame dissections of gameplay trailers over the past couple weeks. A number of you have even set about cracking some hidden codes… But you haven’t found them all yet.”
