In a blog post by Gearbox Software, it was revealed that Borderlands 3 will be getting a handful of changes in the coming week including its first level cap increase since the game’s launch. Arriving on 13 February 2020, the patch will see players increasing their previous cap from 50 to a new cap of 53. Of course, each level will also come with a skill point which players can assign to their trees to unlock new abilities or enhance their older ones.

Along with the Borderlands 3 level cap increase, Gearbox Software also announced some minor changes coming to the game including the ability to skip cutscenes regardless of whether you’ve watched them before. A new “True Takedown Mode” is also arriving. Players can opt-into this mode before going into any Takedown content and it will be the hardest content in the game.
Lastly, the Borderlands 3 Valentine’s Day event called “Broken Hearts Day” will also be arriving this week with exclusive rewards to unlock. The event will see players shooting hearts scattered throughout the game while raiding or farming for weapons. The hearts all have an in-game effect including a fiery explosion and turning your enemies into allies.
The event only runs from 13 – 20 February 2020 and once you hit 100 hearts broken you can unlock an exclusive “Wedding Invitation” sniper rifle. Players can also opt-out of the event once they have completed it so the hearts don’t appear in-game anymore. Other unlockables include a Vault Hunter Skin, Weapon Trinket and more.
The event and the update will be rolling out on 13 February 2020 so make sure your game is up-to-date on the day in order to take advantage of the Borderlands 3 level cap increase and Broken Hearts Day event.
