“Going gold” in the gaming world means the game has completed its development cycle and the GM (gold master) copy is sent in for production. Here the game is copied onto retails discs and the fancy boxes are made and produced ready for the game to ship worldwide for its release date.

The game is also prepped for digital distribution through online storefronts like the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace and of course, the Epic Games Store where the PC version of Borderlands 3 will stay until April next year.
Any changes done to Borderlands 3 now during the next month will be updated through a day one update closer to the game’s release date of 13 September 2019.
Borderlands 3 is 2K’s biggest and most ambitious ever released and takes place right after the events of Tales From the Borderlands and Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary. We went hands-on with the game at E3 this year and put together a list of new features we discovered during the demo. You can check these out here.

Gearbox Software does not plan on having cross-play enabled for the release of Borderlands 3 but they are committed to making it happen. When this is we are not sure but at least we can all celebrate that the game has now been completed and is ready for gamers to experience when it releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC on 13 September 2019.
