During the Gamescom Opening Night where we got a glimpse at the new Need for Speed: Heat gameplay and Norman Reedus taking a leak, Gearbox Software revealed the Borderlands 3 end-game content.

We all know once you finish a Borderlands game you are tasked at the hardest of hard content and the upcoming game will be no different. According to Gearbox, the game will feature a Borderlands 3 Proving Grounds mode similar to the Circle of Slaughter which features a horde-like experience.

In order to activate it, you will need to discover Eridian Writings scattered across the galaxy. These writings will point you towards the coordinates on certain planets where these high-tier missions will be located.

These Borderlands 3 end-game missions will put you up against tougher threats and reward you with high-end loot. Gearbox describes the Borderlands 3 Proving Grounds on its blog;

Proving Grounds are races against the clock, tasking you with blitzing your way through three areas filled with baddies and beating a boss in 30 minutes or less. If you complete your chosen Trial quickly and efficiently you’ll earn better bounties, and for even greater rewards you can complete bonus objectives like beating the Proving Grounds without dying, completing it with a certain amount of time remaining, or managing to find and eliminate an elusive Fallen Guardian who roams the area. The chest that awaits at the end of the Proving Grounds always contains valuable loot, but you’ll need to display true mastery if you want the best rewards.

There is much more to the Borderlands 3 end-game than just this mode as we are sure the game will feature the Ultimate Vault Hunter mode as well as planned expansions in the near future that will boost the level cap and add new missions and maybe playable characters.

The game releases on 13 September for PS4, Xbox One and the Epic Game Store. Gearbox also released a brand new “guide to Borderlands 3″ trailer which you can check out below.
