Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony revealed an interview with Scott Valasquez that touched on the development on the game as well as the PS4 and PS4 Pro features.
Scott revealed the PS4 Pro allowed Gearbox Software to incorporate enhanced features into the game’s engine such as higher resolution and frame rates. According to Scott, Borderlands 3 will support 4K HDR as well as 1080p HDR which will deliver enhanced colours and a more detailed world.
Players on the PS4 Pro will be able to switch between a resolution setting and a performance setting that will tweak the game’s visual fidelity. The Resolution Mode will make the game run at resolutions up to 4K and Performance Mode will increase the frame rate cap to 60 frames per second at 1080p.
Scott explained even running the Resolution Mode on a 1080p TV means the game will be supersampled down and look sharper so Gearbox tried to accommodate all PS4 gamers by enhancing the experience for all.
Surely these settings will also be present on the Xbox One X as the console also supports higher resolutions and frame rates when compared to the Xbox One S.
The Borderlands 3 enhancements will come in handy depending on your play style. The performance mode will help when playing co-op as the frame rates might drop with more players and action on the screen. This will prevent users from experiencing stuttering due to the lower frame rate buffer.
Borderlands 3 is due out on 13 September for PS4 and Xbox One with the PC release being exclusive to the Epic Store until April 2020.
