Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 have seemingly leaked via a former employee’s LinkedIn profile. It’s been speculated for a few months now that Gearbox might’ve quietly been developing the next mainline Borderlands game. Given the success of the first Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands game, it also makes sense that a sequel would enter development. We now have a good lead about what Gearbox’s upcoming releases might be.
As reported by Video Games Chronicle, the LinkedIn profile of Randel Reiss, the former Studio Technical Director of Lost Boys Interactive, was updated to mention both Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 as being projects he previously worked on. Lost Boys Interactive assisted Gearbox on the development of the first Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as well as several Take-Two titles like WWE 2K23.

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford stated in the past that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands had “shattered” the company’s targets, believing that it might be a potential new franchise to explore:
“Wonderlands shattered all of our target expectations, both critically and commercially, and I’m thrilled to report that in addition to great financial rewards from this victory that will be coming our way in the coming quarters, we have established a firm beachhead. We now clearly have a new franchise on our hands, with future experiences already under development at Gearbox.”
Beyond that, it’s very likely that work on the fourth Borderlands game is underway, though it’s hard to say how long it has been in development since the launch of Borderlands 3 in 2019. The IP is also heading to Hollywood as a live-action Borderlands movie is currently in the works from director Eli Roth. It will star Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Jack Black as Claptrap, Kevin Hart as Roland and Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, among other cast members.
