Borderlands 4 Officially Announced – Coming 2025

Gearbox Software has officially announced Borderlands 4 during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The announcement was made with a cinematic trailer that promises some epic galactic adventures to come. While the trailer was short and sweet, it ended with a 2025 release window.

Not much was revealed about Borderlands 4 during the cinematic trailer that premiered during Gamescom Opening Night Live, officially kicking off the show. The trailer didn’t reveal the playable characters or much about the story other than some galactic cataclysm, though the visuals do seem to point to a much more polished and refined art style than anything we’ve seen before in the franchise.

Unfortunately, Borderlands 4‘s announcement wasn’t accompanied by a release date beyond the 2025 window, so we’ll have to wait for more information to become available online over the next few months including characters, gameplay, story and more.

The timing of the fourth Borderlands game follows the recent release of the critically maligned movie adaptation from Eli Roth, which performed so poorly at the box office, it’s now on track to launch digitally on 30 August – under a month from its release in cinemas.
