Borderlands Film – Gearbox Director Wants to See The Rock as Claptrap

Film studio Lionsgate is currently working on a Borderlands film and although I have my reservations about it until such time as there is a trailer, a cast list and more, the creative director at Gearbox Software, wants The Rock to play everyone’s favourite robot “assistant”, Claptrap.

Yes, you read that correctly. Borderlands 3 creative director, Paul Sage, spoke to VG24/7 and said that he is still up for the Borderlands film, which has been in somewhat of a limbo since it was announced in 2015. It appears like the Borderlands film will still happen and if Paul Sage has his way, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson could play the role of Claptrap. I am assuming this is a voice role.

Paul Sage reportedly said that:

I would watch that. At the time of writing, we do not even know if the Borderlands film will be live-action or animated. If it is live action, however, then Scott Kester, Art Director on Borderlands 3 wants it to be The Rock. However, if it is animated, he would like to see Bill Murray voice Claptrap.

I’m gonna go with Bill Murray. Yeah! That’s who I want to play Claptrap. Maybe he’d finally get an Oscar.[/perfectpullquote]
