Borderlands 3 is looking great and it is one of my most anticipated games of the year. However, as gamers do, they are salty and rather unhappy about the fact that the title will not be coming to Steam until April 2020.
Soon after the game’s announcement, it was revealed that Borderlands 3 will be an Epic Games Store exclusive until April next year and people are not ready to accept it. Of course, Steam users took it upon themselves and began review bombing previous entries in the games in an act of rage.
Twenty-four hours later, and the older Borderlands titles are now littered with thousands of negative reviews of unhappy gamers (shame). Borderlands 2 has over 1600 new negative reviews while the Pre-Sequel has just under 500 and Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is around 300.
Borderlands 2 is especially under fire due to the new ultra HD patch and texture pack released on Steam this week. Gearbox is supporting the game but is not releasing the sequel on the same gaming client (you get the issue here).
“Love the game, but I can’t recommend it because the sequel will be exclusive somewhere else,”
“Scummy company that insults every single person that purchased the game on this site.”
Steam’s new anti-review bombing system which is meant to remove these negative reviews is clearly not working at all as they keep piling up. It also does not help that Borderlands 2 has received a massive amount of attention from new and returning gamers on Steam, hitting over 40,000 concurrent players on the day the new patch released. It is now in the top 10 of Steam’s most played games.
But the gamer hate does not end there as it is feeding into social media too. Gearbox’s Facebook posts surrounding the game are littered with the same negative comments in regards to the Borderlands 3 Epic Game Store exclusivity. Gearbox cannot post anything without the wave of trolls making it clear that they are unhappy about the situation.

Even the posts about the original title re-releasing on consoles have gamers raging about the Epic Games Store release and it is just getting out of hand. Twitter is the same thing as gamers are clearly looking at every avenue to express their anger about the game’s lack of Steam support on release.
It does not seem that Gearbox is budging on the decision for Borderlands 3 Epic Games Store exclusivity so if you want to play it on Steam, you will have to wait another six months after the game releases.
