Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Bungie Details Future of Destiny 2 With The Final Shape and Season of The Witch

Bungie has shared details regarding the future of Destiny 2 during the latest showcase event. The developer highlighted the latest Destiny 2: Season of the Witch content which is live now in-game as well as dated the final expansion for the light vs dark saga, The Final Shape.

The biggest news from the showcase is likely The Final Shape expansion. Bungie announced it will launch on 27 February 2024 for all current platforms. The content will see players enter the mysterious ball which they have focused all their efforts around for the past ten years, The Traveler.

Bungie says The Pale Heart awaits inside the giant structure and it is a location unlike anything we have seen in the game’s ten-year history (almost ten years, okay).

Destiny 2: The Final Shape will include new enemies including Subjugators that use both Stasis and Strand against players. Each class is also getting a new super. The Warlock is getting a Solar super that is a call back to the Radiance ability in the original Destiny.

Titans are getting a new Void super which sees them wield multiple axes that can be thrown at enemies. Allies can also pick these up and use them. Hunters are getting a new Arc super that enhances the Arc Staff with new combos and chain attacks.

As for the returning weapons, players can look forward to guns like Red Death, Dragon’s Breath and Khvostov. A new exotic weapon called Tessellation is a Fusion Rifle that matches your damage type.

Of course, we all know Cayde-6 is returning for Destiny 2: the Final Shape. He is once again voiced by Nathan Fillion. He will play a big role in the story content for the game. Bungie also confirmed that players will finally take on The Witness at the end of Destiny 2: The Final Shape Raid.

So what comes after that? Well, Bungie has announced three content drops for 2024 instead of the current four. The developer says these “Episodes” will be bigger than the usual seasonal content but no further details were shared.

Until Destiny 2: The Final Shape launches, players can now enjoy Season of The Witch. The new season focuses on Eris Morn. There’s a new PvP Vex map and Bungie is bringing back Crota’s End Raid on 1 September.
