Bungie Hiring For New Exciting Title Set in The Destiny Universe

Bungie currently has new open positions at the company for developers looking to work on a new Destiny game. A job advert spotted by Reddit lists the game as an “exciting new title” but also related to the Destiny universe.

The job in question is for a new Senior Concept Artist. The job description says that the person will be responsible to work on a “wide range of game elements like guns, characters, armours, vehicles, environments and other seasonal art needs”.

The listing also suggests that the candidate will help the studio “continually push the aesthetics of the Destiny universe.” The listing also confirms that whatever the studio is hiring for will feature a competitive nature. However, this is listed under the description’s “nice-to-have” section and not a requirement. It reads “experience with and love of competitive games” as an added benefit.

“As a Concept Artist, you will be working on everything from exploring character designs and iconography to proposing visual solutions for broad world building questions. Most importantly, you will work with a fun, dedicated, and passionate cross-discipline team devoted to bringing a new game to life!”

Now there are two things that this listing could be related to. First off, we know that Destiny 2 will get a new expansion by the end of the year (perhaps delayed into 2023). This job listing could simply be hiring for artists to work on the upcoming expansion and seasonal content planned for the game. However, the ad also mentions “an exciting new title” which has many fans scratching their heads.

If this is a new Destiny game then maybe it is a spin-off. Fan theory suggests that Bungie might split current Destiny 2 model into two games. One is the PvE experience and the other is the PvP one. At the moment, Bungie is struggling to keep the entire Destiny 2 experience in one game. The game engine is struggling to keep the content it already has. This has previously led to Bungie “vaulting” past expansions. Meaning players can’t access world and content they previously paid for.

Whatever it is, Destiny fans are definitely frothing at the mouth for new information. Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted is currently underway until August.
