Call of Duty 2024 is Reportedly Called Black Ops Gulf War

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is still fresh on everyone’s mind, reports have already surfaced about next year’s entry. According to the new leak, Call of Duty in 2024 will see a return to the Black Ops series as Black Ops Gulf War. It will once again be developed by Treyarch, rumoured to have quite a lengthy early access period.

According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War from Treyarch is expected to release in 2024. As the title suggests, it will be set in the early 90s during the Gulf War and reportedly seek to “explore a nuanced narrative of the Gulf War, with a critical focus on different participants within the conflict.” It will also “lean back into more traditional military combat technology and familiar Black Ops gadgetry as opposed to the current and near-future tech we’ve seen from Modern Warfare and some other recent Call of Duty titles.”

Corden claims that a large number of maps in Gulf War could be classic maps from previous Black Ops games. Additionally, round-based Zombies could also make a return. Activision is reportedly considering giving players a lengthy early access window as a pre-order bonus, with several days for the base game and possibly even weeks for Zombies. Lining up with the release schedule of most Call of Duty games, Black Ops Gulf War is expected to launch sometime in late fall or early winter 2024.

Activision stated last month that it has Call of Duty games planned out until 2027, one of which is rumoured to be Advanced Warfare 2 from Sledgehammer Games.

The goods news is that, under Xbox following Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, platform-exclusive betas for Call of Duty will no longer be a thing. Phil Spencer addressed this after the deal was completed, confirming that betas and early access for the first-person shooter franchise will get equal opportunity on multiple platforms as opposed to being exclusive to PlayStation consoles in the past.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
