Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Arachnophobia Mode Removes The Spider’s Legs

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is out today for consoles and PC, delivering another annual release in the long-running first-person shooter franchise. Following recent trends, Black Ops 6 has added an arachnophobia mode to Zombies for those who have a fear of the spiders. However, the studio’s solution seems to have made the scariness factor a lot worse by removing the spider’s legs.

Activision detailed the various accessibility features that are present in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, one of which is its new arachnophobia mode. “For the first time in Black Ops 6 Zombies, a new arachnophobia toggle feature will be available,” reads the blog. “This setting will allow players to change the appearance of spider-like enemies in Zombies without affecting their gameplay.”

As seen below, the feature seems to remove the spider creature’s legs entirely, making them instead appear as floating leeches or something straight out of your nightmares. Hey, at least the legs are gone but now you’re being attacked by a hideous levitating slug with teeth. Surely that fixes the issue.

In related news, Microsoft is reportedly banking heavily on Black Ops 6 to drive Xbox Game Pass growth, which saw a shake-up this year after Microsoft introduced new tiers to the subscription service. The company officially completed its acquisition of publisher Activision Blizzard last year, though promised to continue releasing the Call of Duty franchise on PlayStation consoles, at least for the foreseeable future.

Despite having a single-player campaign, Black Ops 6 also requires a constant internet connection to play, even for its campaign (which have usually been offline in past releases).

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available today on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
