Activision has revealed the preload file sizes on all platforms for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta. The beta preload will officially begin on 28 August, two days before the beta is set to go live. However, the publisher also stated that there’s a much faster way to jump into the beta which involves you installing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.
As announced by Activision, the preload for the Black Ops 6 beta will begin on 28 August. However, the publisher also recommends downloading the Season 5 Reloaded update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone which arrives on 21 August. This update carries the beta files needed for Black Ops 6 which can automatically be accessed on the 28th. Alternatively, those who don’t want to waste the extra space installing other Call of Duty games can also just install it directly from their platform’s storefront.
As for the estimated preload file sizes, Activision provided a list of all the platforms that the Black Ops 6 beta will be available on. It varies between generations but for the most part, current-gen owners need at least 35GB of free space while last-gen players will need around 17GB. “Existing install” here refers to whether or not players downloaded the Season 5 Reloaded update. Here’s the breakdown:
- PS5: 34GB with existing install and 80GB without
- PS4: 15GB with existing install and 67GB without
- Xbox Series X/S: 35GB with existing install or 75GB without
- Xbox One: 17GB with existing install or 52GB without
- Battle.Net: 32GB with existing install or 74GB without
- Steam: 32GB with existing install or 66GB without
- Microsoft Store: 29GB with existing install or 68GB without
Players who pre-ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will have early access to the beta from 30 August – 4 September. Thereafter, the beta will be made open to all players the following weekend from 6-9 September.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on 25 October 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
