The release date for this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has leaked from a reliable source. The next entry in the long-running first-person shooter franchise from Activision was officially confirmed last week, coming from developer Treyarch. An in-depth look at the title is planned to take place after the Xbox Games Showcase on 9 June where we’ll get our first details and gameplay. However, a new leak claims to already know when we’ll be able to get our hands on Black Ops 6.
As reported by Insider Gaming last week following the game’s initial round of leaks, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 currently has a release window of “late October 2024.” According to Tom Henderson, this release date has been narrowed down to 25 October ahead of an official announcement by Activision. Since the game was officially revealed, this bit of information gained traction online and there’s a good chance that it’s the correct date.
This falls in line with the release schedule of annual Call of Duty titles which tend to have late year releases, specifically around October/November each year. It seems like Black Ops 6 won’t be breaking that tradition.
Little else is known about Black Ops 6 other than the fact that it’s the sixth entry in the Black Ops series following 2020’s Black Ops Cold War. According to a previous report, the game will be set during the 1990s Gulf War, though we’ll have to wait for the full reveal to find out if this is accurate or not. It’s also good to know that the Black Ops series is exploring more historical settings and events after older entries were divisively set in the future.
In related news, a report claims that Microsoft is exploring adding a new Xbox Game Pass tier that will include this year’s Call of Duty game. If this turns out to be true, then we’ll likely hear about it at the Xbox Games Showcase.
