Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will require you to always be online for all of its modes available at launch incuding the single-player campaign. In past cases, Call of Duty campaigns could be downloaded and enjoyed without the need for a constant internet connection. However, Black Ops 6 seems to be changing that.
If players want to experience the campaign, Zombies and multiplayer modes for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 when it launches on 25 October, they must have a constant internet connection. Activision revealed this much in a recent website post, explaining that Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes meaning you’ll always have to be online to even play the campaign.
Activision explained in the post:
“To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes. This means you’ll need a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign. If you’re on a console, Campaign can be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.”
If that wasn’t enough of a kick, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will also require a hefty 309 GB of free space to install. This possibly accounts for the game, its modes as well as Call of Duty: Warzone, Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, which explains why so much space is needed.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, which is a good incentive to play the game, though those with a standard Xbox Series S console with very limited storage space will probably want to think twice about installing the game. That said, Xbox also announced a couple of new Xbox Series consoles yesterday with significantly more hard drive space, if you’re still in the market to grab one and play the latest Call of Duty.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on 25 October 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
